In Fire Class homework is focussed on the key skills of reading and times tables.

Reading:

Please ensure that your child is reading for at least 10 – 15 minutes a day. Listening to or reading with your child makes a huge difference to all aspects of their learning. This could be their school book, a favourite book from home, a recipe that you make together, a comic book or even information you have looked up on the computer together.

Times Tables:

All children, by the end of Year 4, need to know their times tables up to 12 x. To be able to do this children need to practice their times tables regularly. To help them do this they each have access to Times Tables Rock Stars and have log-ons for this in their reading records. If your child doesn’t have access to a computer please let us know so we can send home paper sheets for them to practice with instead.

Spellings:

Across the whole of KS2 we are now teaching spelling phonetically. Children will have a new set of spellings to learn each week, in class. If you are reading or writing with your child at home, please encourage them to use their phonics knowledge.
