Mary Alexander – Headteacher

Steve has 4 children, 1 of which currently attends the school. He is keen to use his project management skills to contribute positively to the governor role.

Jeanne Mortarotti – Parent Governor – Date of Appointment  February 2018 Term of office ends January 2022
Jeanne has 4 children, 1 of them attending the school for the moment. She teaches French and Italian, her native languages. Teaching children has increased her interest into the education system and she strongly feels the importance to support the school into the major role it plays in a child’s life.

Helen Barker – Staff Governor –  Date of Appointment September 2018 Term of office ends October 2022
Helen has been a teacher at Horsington School since 1998, teaching Reception and Year 1 children in Water class. She believes experiential learning gives the children a strong foundation on which to build.
She had 3 children, 2 attended Horsington School They now have happy and successful careers in the Army and Education.

Ruth Bradford-Peck – Parent Governor – Date of Appointment October 2015 Term of Office ends January 2024                                                                                                                    Ruth has 4 children, all of whom have attended or attend the school.  She was appointed as a Parent Governor in September 2015 and works part time as a PA. Ruth enjoys working closely with the school both volunteering in class, on the PTFA and as a governor.

Connie Hurt – MAT appointed Governor – Date of Appointment October 2018 Term of Office ends September 2022                                                                                                          Connie Hurt is a qualified surveyor who lives locally and works for a large international oil company as a property manager. She is keen to use her financial and Health & Safety skills to contribute positively towards to her role as a governor.  She has 2 young children, 1 currently attending the school and the other at a local nursery and is married to the owner of a local garden centre.

James O’Gorman – MAT appointed Governor – Date of Appointment August 2019 Term of Office ends August 2023                                                                                                               Jim is an ex-prisioner governor and also has NHS management experience, working in challenging environments. He has two grandchildren at the school. He is now retired.

Pauline O’Gorman – MAT appointed Governor – Date of Appointment September 2019 Term of Office ends September 2023                                                                                             Pauline worked for several years in prison education followed by many years as a curriculum manager working in adult education. She has experience working with young people on Government Apprentice schemes. Pauline has two grandchildren at Horsington School and is now retired.

Jillian Evans – MAT appointed Governor – Date of Appointment September 2020 Term of Office ends September 2024                                                                                                    Jillian has lived in South Somerset for 31 years, moving from her native Northern Ireland to follow a career in teaching. She is married, with two grown-up children, who attended schools locally. Jillian was Head of English at a local senior school for many years. She now assesses for the English Speaking Board and volunteers as a reading helper with the charity Coram Beanstalk. She is keen to use her extensive experience in education for the benefit of the school.
