Sarah Holmes – MAT appointed Governor –Term of office ends January 2022
Sarah became a co-opted governor in February 2013 and was elected as Vice Chair in September 2013. She has 2 children at the school and works part time as a horticulturalist for the National Trust. In her previous career, she worked for a large Telecommunications company in an HR and training role.
Isobel Wood – MAT appointed Governor – Term of office ends January 2022
Isobel is relatively new to the area, but not to education since she has three children, two of whom are young teachers. The youngest is looking forward to following suit after completing her degree in music. Originally trained in Psychiatric Social Work, Isobel later became an Early Years Professional and was the head teacher of a Montessori nursery school in Surrey until 2009. She has a particular interest in encouraging excellent Early Years provision within the Foundation Stage Curriculum.
Stephen Beckey – Parent Governor – Term of office ends January 2022
Steve has 4 children, 2 of which currently attend the school. He is keen to use his project management skills to contribute positively to the governor role.
Jeanne Mortarotti – Parent Governor – Term of office ends January 2022
Jeanne has 4 children, 3 of them attending the school for the moment. She teaches French and Italian, her native languages. Teaching children has increased her interest into the education system and she strongly feels the importance to support the school into the major role it plays in a child’s life.
Helen Barker – Staff Governor – Term of office ends October 2022
Helen has been a teacher at Horsington School since 1998, teaching Reception and Year 1 children in Water class. She believes experiential learning gives the children a strong foundation on which to build.
She had 3 children, 2 attended Horsington School They now have happy and successful careers in the Army and Education.
Jean Boyd-Lee – MAT appointed Governor – Term of office ends August 2022 Jean’s career began in science research then moved to teaching. She has been the head of two schools. The most recent a Dorset Church primary school of the same size as Horsington’s. She is a committed Christian and her husband is a member of the Church of England General Synod and Archbishops’ Council. Her experience in education gives her a wide range of knowledge and skills to use for the benefit of Horsington Church School.
Ruth Bradford-Peck – Parent Governor – Term of Office ends September 2019 Ruth has 4 children, all of whom attend the school. She was appointed as a Parent Governor in September 2015 and works part time as a PA. Ruth enjoys working closely with the school both volunteering in class, on the PTFA and as a governor.
Connie Hurt – MAT appointed Governor – Term of Office ends September 2022
Connie Hurt is a qualified surveyor who lives locally and works for a large international oil company as a property manager. She is keen to use her financial and Health & Safety skills to contribute positively towards to her role as a governor. She has 2 young children, 1 currently attending the school and the other at a local nursery and is married to the owner of a local garden centre.
Gill Miles – MAT appointed Governor – Term of Office ends April 2020
Gill has retired from a long career in the NHS as nurse, midwife and later Head of Department. Her work as a trainer to healthcare staff, those working in charitable organisations and to members of the community who care for others, gave her a keen interest in education for adults and for children. She lives, with her husband Stephen, in the village. They are active members of the local church and have a little granddaughter attending Horsington School.
