Ian Rumbelow – Headteacher Ian has been Headteacher of the school since September 1998. He has guided the school through 3 successful OFSTED Inspections. He has a particular interest in developing a holistic approach to teaching and learning.
Vicky Franklin – MAT appointed Governor – term of office November 2017
Vicky lives in Horsington and helps her husband and son run the local garage. Both she and her husband were born in the area and see the school as an essential part of the local community. Vicky has worked in the local secondary school and town libraries and has a passion for encouraging children to read. She has recently become a grandparent so her interest in primary education has become even more relevant.
Sarah Holmes – MAT appointed Governor –Term of office ends February 2017
Sarah became a co-opted governor in February 2013 and was elected as Vice Chair in September 2013. She has 2 children at the school and works part time as a horticulturalist for the National Trust. In her previous career, she worked for a large Telecommunications company in an HR and training role.
Isobel Wood – MAT appointed Governor – Term of office ends November 2017
Isobel is relatively new to the area, but not to education since she has three children, two of whom are young teachers. The youngest is looking forward to following suit after completing her degree in music. Originally trained in Psychiatric Social Work, Isobel later became an Early Years Professional and was the head teacher of a Montessori nursery school in Surrey until 2009. She has a particular interest in encouraging excellent Early Years provision within the Foundation Stage Curriculum.
Stephen Beckey – Parent Governor – Term of office ends November 2017
Steve has 4 children, 2 of which currently attend the school. He is keen to use his project management skills to contribute positively to the governor role.
Jeanne Mortarotti – Parent Governor – Term of office ends November 2017
Jeanne has 4 children, 3 of them attending the school for the moment. She teaches French and Italian, her native languages. Teaching children has increased her interest into the education system and she strongly feels the importance to support the school into the major role it plays in a child’s life.
Helen Barker – Staff Governor – Term of office ends August 2018
Helen has been a teacher at Horsington School since 1998, teaching Reception and Year 1 children in Water class. She believes experiential learning gives the children a strong foundation on which to build.
She had 3 children, 2 attended Horsington School They now have happy and successful careers in the Army and Education.
Nicola Epps – Staff Governor – Term of office ends August 2018 – resigned Dec 2016
Nicola has been local authority and parent governor within the primary and secondary sectors. She has a background in teaching and arts development and currently works in teaching and non-teaching roles within the school. Her children both attended Horsington School and are now happy and flourishing young adults.
Jean Boyd-Lee – MAT appointed Governor – Term of office ends August 2018 Jean’s career began in science research then moved to teaching. She has been the head of two schools. The most recent a Dorset Church primary school of the same size as Horsington’s. She is a committed Christian and her husband is a member of the Church of England General Synod and Archbishops’ Council. Her experience in education gives her a wide range of knowledge and skills to use for the benefit of Horsington Church School.
Emma Riley – MAT appointed Governor – Term of office ends October 2018 – resigned 2016
With a background in community arts education, publishing and fundraising Emma enjoys utilising these skills for the good of the school. She has two children, both at Horsington.
Ruth Bradford-Peck – Parent Governor – Term of Office ends September 2019 Ruth has 4 children, all of whom attend the school. She was appointed as a Parent Governor in September 2015 and works part time as a PA. Ruth enjoys working closely with the school both volunteering in class, on the PTFA and as a governor.
Jamie Stewart – Parent Governor – Term of Office ends September 2019 Jamie Stewart was born in Nottingham and has been living in Templecombe for five years. I have been a Governor since September 2015. I have one child who is at the school in Year One. I am an English Teacher at Gillingham School with an active interest in the educational and pastoral needs of children in schools.
